Will I meet my Dog Walker before they come to collect my dog for the first time?

 

Yes, absolutely.  You must arrange a meeting with your Dog Walker to make sure that everyone is 100% happy before any bookings are accepted.  This allows your dog and the Dog Walker to get to know each other, and for you to ask any questions that you might have.

 

Will my pet always have the same Dog Walker?

 

Yes, wherever possible.  We like to maintain a consistent relationship between your dog and your Dog Walker.

 

Do you walk dogs with special needs?

 

We are happy to walk puppies, senior dogs, nervous dogs and those who are not terribly keen on other dogs around them.

 

Does my dog need to be insured?

 

We prefer that dogs are insured, particularly if they are walked off-lead - but this is not mandatory. 

 

Please note that it is your responsibility to settle or reimburse charges for any treatment or veterinary care when we return your dog.

 

What will I need to provide for my dog?

 

A good quality lead, and a coat for wet / cold days (if your dog requires one).  For dogs that walk on a harness or a head-collar, we will need that as well.  Please note that we do not use extending leads / retractable leads, so please make sure that you have a regular lead available.

 

If your dog has a preferred recall treat or toy, please leave that out too.

 

What type of exercise will my dog receive?

 

Dogs can behave differently away from you, so your Dog Walker will exercise your dog on the lead if you do not state a preference.  If, however, your dog has excellent recall and you would like exercise to be off-lead, please let us know.

 

If your dog has a particular activity or game that they enjoy as part of exercise, please let us know and we will add this into their routine wherever possible.

 

Do I need to be at home for you to collect my dog?

 

No.  Most customers take advantage of our free Key Holding Service, which means that we can collect and drop off your dog when you are out.

 

If you do not wish to take advantage of the service, we will need arrange for someone to give us access to your dog when we arrive to walk them.

 

I only require occasional walks for my dog, not every week or every day, can you help?

 

Certainly, once the introductory meeting and trial walk has been completed you may use our services as and when you require them, assuming we have diary availability.  We recommend that you give as much notice as possible.

 

Do you walk dogs off the lead?

 

It depends on what you want - but generally yes! If your dog is a little bit rusty on their recall then we can keep them on a long lead and let them run and play in safety!

 

We will only let your dog off lead once we have written consent and it is safe to do so.

 

What happens if my Dog Walker is away or unwell?

 

Regular customers will receive a minimum of one month's notice of a planned holiday or absence, and will do our utmost to organise you a replacement walker that you are happy with.

 

In the event of your Dog Walker being unable to do a walk at very short notice due to illness, we will endeavour to replace them but we cannot always guarantee this.

 

What happens in bad weather?

 

Based on our initial meeting, we can manage bad weather days in a number of different ways.  For those dogs who hate getting wet, we can delay the walk until later in the day if time allows, or possibly switch to a home visit and some indoor playing.

 

For those that are not bothered by the rain - we get wet! We will clean up and dry off your dog as much as possible on return. We ask that you leave out a towel for a final rub down on arrival back at the house.

 

You are collecting and walking my dog while I am out at work.  What security measures do you have?

 

Your key will be kept securely, and away from personal information.  Keys cannot be identified to any property.  Additionally your personal information will never be sold or shared with third parties, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.  

 

What do you do in case of emergency?

 

We first call you to discuss the situation and agree a plan of action.  If you cannot be reached and your dog requires urgent medical attention, we will take your dog to the vet designated by you, or the nearest to our current location.

 

Please note that it is your responsibility to settle or reimburse charges for any treatment or veterinary care when we return your dog.

 

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

 

Dog Walking Cancellation Policy

 

A booking is made up of two parts, the deposit and the booking fee.

The 50% deposit is non-refundable, and reserves the dates for your booking. 

Cancellations less than 24 hours before the day of the service are charged at the full rate.
