Frequently Asked Questions

Will I meet my Pet Sitter before they come to visit my pet for the first time?

Yes, absolutely.  You must arrange a meeting with your Pet Sitter to make sure that everyone is 100% happy before any bookings are accepted.  This allows your pet and the Pet Sitter to get to know each other, and for you to ask any questions that you might have.

Will my pet always have the same Pet Sitter?

Yes, wherever possible you will have me!

What type of pets will you visit?

I am happy to visit any domestic pet that you have in your home. Please Contact Me to discuss your needs.

Will you give my pet their medication?

Generally, I can help with this, depending on the type of pet and their needs.  Please Contact Me to discuss your specific requirements.

What type of exercise will my pet receive?

I will follow your guidance on what type of exercise your pet needs during the visit (if any).  Please note that small pets need to be happy to be handled if they are to be let out of their environment for a run around.

Do I need to be at home for you to visit my pet?

No.  Most customers take advantage of my free Key Holding Service, which means that I can visit your pet when you are out.  I am DBS checked and secure keys in a locked key safe so that they remain safe and secure.  I am fully insured and include key holding insurance in my business policy so any loss of keys or replacement locks are covered.  Keys are labelled with a unique identifier which does not connect them to your personal information. If you have an alarm, I will keep the access code separately from both the keys and your personal details to ensure the highest level of security. If you prefer not to take advantage of my key holding service, key collection is complimentary on your first booking. I will collect a set of keys from you at the time of your consultation, and return them to you at the end of the booked service. Future collections are chargeable, and keys will be left with you on your last booked visit (we will agree a method for leaving keys at the time of booking).  If you do not wish to take advantage of the service, you will need arrange for someone to give me access to your pet when I arrive to visit them.

I only require occasional visits for my pet, not every week or every day, can you help?

Certainly, once the introductory meeting has been completed you may use my services as and when you require them, assuming I have diary availability.   I recommend that you give as much notice as possible.  Please bear in mind that I need access to your home to provide this service.

What happens if my Pet Sitter is away or unwell?

Regular customers will receive a minimum of one month's notice of a planned holiday or absence, and I will do my utmost to organise you a replacement Pet Sitter that you are happy with.

In the event of your Pet Sitter not being unable to do a visit at very short notice due to illness, I will endeavour to call in a replacement, but I cannot always guarantee this.  If you are already away on holiday, I commit that I will continue to feed your pet until you return, although the scheduled times may need to change until your Pet Sitter returns to work.

I am going on holiday and am leaving my pet at home.  Can you visit my pet while I am away?

I am happy to check in and feed your pets while you are away.  I can also bring in post, turn lights on and off and open or close curtains to give your home a more lived in appearance.  Please note that this service is not available for dogs.

Can I ask you to feed multiple pets while you are visiting?

Of course.  Please Contact Me for a personalised quote.

You are visiting my pet while I am out at work.  What security measures do you have?

Your key will be kept securely, and away from personal information.  Keys cannot be identified to any property.  Additionally your personal information will never be sold or shared with third parties, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.  Please see my Key Holding Service information above for more details.  I do not have any sign-writing or advertising on my company vehicle.

What do you do in case of emergency?

I first call you to discuss the situation and agree a plan of action.  If you cannot be reached and your pet requires urgent medical attention, I will take your pet to the vet designated by you, or the nearest to your home.

Please note that it is your responsibility to settle or reimburse charges for any treatment or veterinary care administered to your pet, see my Service Agreement for further details.

When is the fee paid for my booking?

Multiple bookings within a week will be considered as one booking, and balances are due 3 days before the first visit within the week.  Please see my Service Agreement for details.

How do I pay for my booking?

Pet Sitting services are charged per half hour / hour and are subject to availability.  Bookings are taken on a first come / first served basis.   Please see my Service Agreement for details.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?
